Red Velvet Snowballs

Delightful little red velvet cookies dusted with powdered sugar, perfect for parties and tea time.

Ingredients
  

  • Dry Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened Ensure it’s softened for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring For vibrant color.
  • For Coating
  • 1 cup powdered sugar For coating the warm cookies.

Method
 

  1. Preparation
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy.
  5. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the butter mixture and mix well.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  7. Baking
  8. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
  9. Place them on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  10. Let the cookies cool slightly, then roll them in powdered sugar while they are still warm.
  11. Allow to cool completely before enjoying.

Notes

These cookies are best served with coffee or milk. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week, or frozen for up to three months.
